"Sometimes the best ideas are just staring you in the face, in my case it was my beautiful niece called Miya who is affectionately known as Miyamoo. Miya is very confident, determined to be independant, full of cheeky personality, yet loving and caring and I wanted to capture all that goodness and personality in my products."
I was born with very sensitive skin and my early bath routines consisted of my mother washing my hair with shampoo that smelt like tar and a body wash which was oily and didn’t smell of anything. After my bath I had a thick greasy cream rubbed into my body to keep my skin moist. I dreaded bath times; it was such drag and a chore. I wasn’t allowed to go near mainstream skincare products until I was an adult.
Over the years I have identified that it is 3 key ingredients that have had a detrimental effect on my dry skin and these are Sodium Lauryl Sulphates (sls) which are used to create foam in products, parabens which are harsh preservatives and petrochemicals from crude oil. For my skin these products caused itching leading to extremely dry and sore skin. I have found that using products without these 3 ingredients and by using my “self care” routine of , wash, moisturise and massage, has helped my skin to look and feel healthy.
60% of what we put into our skins is absorbed straight into our bodies and so its vital that we all know that what we are putting on our bodies is safe and natural. Babies are particularly vulnerable to dry skin because their skin is 5 times thinner than adults, so the key priority is to put natural moisturising ingredients on their skin to PREVENT any dry skin conditions.
I have been obsessed with skincare products and skin care routines for as long as I can remember and so it was only natural for me to turn my passion into creating my own range of baby skincare products. I have personally been involved in all the developmental stages of miamoo, selecting each individual ingredient, packaging and design and ensuring that the final product is of the highest quality and standard.
I want people, especially children to be happy and confident in their own skin. Healthy habits start young.
